Frequently asked

Is the DGA salary mandatory?

Major shareholders working in their own Dutch company (DGA) are expected to apply the customary salary rule (gebruikelijk loon), which is separate from the general minimum wage; the level and the exceptions can change every year. The balance between salary and dividends leads to different outcomes depending on the company. We determine the appropriate level together in a tailored assessment.

How often is a VAT return filed?

For most companies quarterly, in some cases monthly or annually; the period is set by the Belastingdienst. We add the filing dates to your calendar and request the documents in advance. Because late filings and payments can lead to penalties, we clarify the calendar from the start.

Will I also pay tax in Türkiye?

Income such as dividends and salary from your Dutch BV may also need to be declared in Türkiye, depending on your tax residency there. The Türkiye–Netherlands double taxation treaty provides the framework; the outcome depends on the type of income and your personal situation. We prepare a tailored assessment and work with your adviser in Türkiye where needed.

Do the annual accounts have to be filed with the KVK?

Yes, every BV must have its annual accounts adopted by the shareholders and filed with the KVK within the statutory deadline. Small companies can use a simplified format; which format applies depends on the company's size criteria. We handle preparation, adoption and filing on your behalf.
